Ipswich Town have signed midfielder Massimo Luongo to a new one-year deal at the club.

Luongo was one of the stars of last season's promotion push, teaming with skipper Sam Morsy to drive Town to Championship football.

"It took a little while for me to get going and get a run of games, but I still felt like I was pushing the lads that were playing and that I could contribute.

"I always thought I could make an impact and I’m very pleased with how it has all gone so far.

"I’m delighted to stay and I think it’ll be special playing for the club in the Championship.

"The division looks strong but it’s a big season for us and it’s a season to be excited about.”

Lunogo's new deal means Town have a quartet of experienced Championship midfielders - he and Morsy, plus Lee Evans and Dominic Ball.

There are decisions to make this summer on fellow midfielders Idris El Mizouni, Rekeem Harper, Cameron Humphreys and Panutche Camara.

Town have also been linked to Peterborough star Jack Taylor, a man they've tried to sign several times in the past.
