Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna enjoyed having the opportunity to thank the club’s fans during their celebration event in Christchurch Park.
More than 10,000 supporters packed the park on Monday, marking the Blues’ promotion to the Championship at the end of a stunning season.
While fans were keen to thank the players following promotion, McKenna stressed he and his squad were grateful to have the chance to return the gesture to the supporters who have followed them in huge numbers throughout the campaign.
“It’s wonderful, amazing scenes and wonderful to see so many people so happy,” the Town boss said, speaking on BBC Radio Suffolk.
“That’s the power of sport and the power of this football club. It’s beautiful to see.
“It’s been great to have the recognition for a lot of people here, maybe especially the backroom staff as they don’t get much attention.
“It’s been wonderful to see so many supporters and it’s not just them thanking us, it’s us thanking them as well for their support.
“It’s a great day for everyone involved.”
