Ipswich Town won promotion this afternoon with a stunning 6-0 victory over Exeter City. Here, Andy Warren hands out some player ratings following an emotional afternoon.
Christian Walton
Another near-spotless performance from a goalkeeper who has given Ipswich Town the most solid of bases this season. Made one good, low, save to stop Demetri Mitchell here and did all required of him. 10
Harry Clarke
Maybe the only thing missing from this most complete of days was the Ipswich-born defender firing home from range. The crowd wanted it at nearly every opportunity – it will come one day. The dynamic full-back has really added something to this side. 10
Luke Woolfenden
Town’s smooth operator at the back was just that again this afternoon. Exeter barely had a sniff as the partnership between he and Cameron Burgess stood firm once again. 10
Cameron Burgess
The big centre-half has ended this season like a train, becoming one of the division’s most dominant central defenders. He and Woolfenden showed all of their quality when they needed to in this one. 10
Leif Davis
The right side of the Exeter team simply couldn’t live with Ipswich’s left, with Davis flying down the outside and Nathan Broadhead doing some brilliant work coming inside. We quickly knew the former Leeds man had something about him, but he has made huge strides during the season and looks a bargain. 10
Sam Morsy
The skipper’s pass made the opener, on an afternoon where he once again showed the dominance which has made him so important to all Ipswich have achieved. 10
Massimo Luongo
Another goal from Town’s Australian midfielder, who showed drive and purpose throughout and finished brilliantly to double his side’s lead. As a starter in an Ipswich shirt, Town have won 13 of his 14 matches and drawn only one. They have scored 43 goals and conceded only two. His arrival isn’t the only reason Town have done this but it’s certainly a huge part. 10
Wes Burns
It’s only right Burns, who has played such an important role in the last two seasons, got in on the scoring act in this game. His chipped finish was delightful, as was his dart into the area to win the penalty, converted by Broadhead. 10
Conor Chaplin
The No.10 left the field with a huge haul of trophies after sweeping the awards after this game, having also netted two excellent goals to take his tally to 29 in a remarkable season. He leads the League One scoring charts with a game to go, so can add the Golden Boot to his collection. Produced a brilliant assist for Burns this afternoon, too. 10
Nathan Broadhead
The former Everton man is pure class and has added another layer to an already excellent Ipswich side. In this game he produced a brilliant cross for Hirst’s goal and converted from the spot after missing on Tuesday night. 10
George Hirst
Chants of ‘sign him up, sign him up, sign him up’ rang around Portman Road during this game – and for good reason. The striker sniffed out his goal and bullied Alex Hartridge into submission, with the Exeter centre-half replaced. He’s been a huge part of this team’s stunning end to the season. Hopefully something can be done. 10
Kayden Jackson (for Burns, 68)
Town’s subs didn’t need to have the same devastating impact as the starters in this game, but they kept the tempo high and maintained Ipswich’s dominance. Jackson, who has played a really important role for the Blues this season, made some good openings down the right. 8
Kyle Edwards (for Broadhead, 68)
Some good moments for the attacker, whose smile was as wide as the Portman Road pitch when the full-time whistle went. 8
Freddie Ladapo (for Hirst, 68)
The striker would have been a very popular scorer, had he managed to add his name to the sheet this afternoon, having played such a big role this season. 8
Dominic Ball (for Luongo, 75)
It has been great to see the midfielder back on the pitch again, having looked to have been ruled out for the season after injuring his knee. 8
Vaclav Hladky (for Walton, 83)
The Czech keeper’s first league minutes of the season were a reward for his work as Walton’s back-up – it's an important role in any side. 8
