Ipswich Town won 3-0 away at Barnsley this evening. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.

Christian Walton

Did all required of him once again, with the majority of his saves comfortable and balls both low and high dealt with inside the box. A calming presence once again.

Harry Clarke

Got stronger and stronger as this game went along, making good decisions, attacking when he needed to and defending well. Had one rocket of a shot blocked en route to goal once again.

Luke Woolfenden

Another good defensive performance from Ipswich, which Woolfenden had a big part in. Handled former team-mate James Norwood well, aside from one second-half moment, and battled away against everything the hosts had to offer. 9

Cameron Burgess

A top performance from a player who has been brilliant of late. The highlight was perhaps the brilliant tackle on Devante Cole in the second half. But his all-round game was fantastic, showcasing all the advances he’s made.

Leif Davis

The former Leeds man provided two Ipswich Town goals in this game, with his corner headed home at the near post by Nathan Broadhead before a thumping clearance ultimately laid on George Hirst’s second. Defended well but was replaced late on as Greg Leigh was introduced for some extra physicality.

Sam Morsy

The skipper was in control of things throughout this game, seeing plenty of the ball even when things were tough during the first period. He always wanted it, was responsible with it when he got it and was able to drive through the middle of the pitch.

Massimo Luongo

Rattled the bar early on and continued to push whenever he could, keeping the ball well, using it cleverly and ensuring the Ipswich Town midfield got on top of a good Barnsley team.

Wes Burns

Did his best to get on top of his personal battle during a congested first-half, wriggling away when he could and looking to send balls into dangerous areas. He won the penalty in the second period, showing a real turn of pace to burst through Barnsley traffic.

Conor Chaplin

The attacker was crowded out early in the game and, despite trying to play, didn’t have the space to work. That changed as the contest went on, with things opening up for him before he produced a brilliant finish to well-and-truly wrap this game up. That's 24 in the league this season now, one shy of leading scoring Jonson Clarke-Harris of Peterborough. The race for the golden boot is on with two games to go. 8

Nathan Broadhead

The Welshman’s goal, at the near post from a corner, gave Ipswich control of this game and they didn’t look back. Like Chaplin, he found it hard to make room to work but still produced sparkling moments, including a through ball for George Hirst’s first-half chance. Went with power from the spot and saw his kick saved.

George Hirst

Put a chance wide early but responded in the best possible way, scoring an incredible goal which showcased his strength, pace, calm head and finishing ability. Battled away all night, putting in a brilliant striking display for the second game in succession. 9

Greg Leigh (for Davis, 76)

On to beef things up at the back and did during the closing stages of the game and did exactly that.

Freddie Ladapo (for Hirst, 84), Marcus Harness (for Broadhead, 84), Kayden Jackson (for Burns, 84), Dominic Ball (for Luongo, 84)

Town’s quadruple change took the sting out of any potential (and extremely unlikely) Barnsley comeback in the closing stages. n/a
