Ipswich Town fan Terry Hunt shares his thoughts on the Blues after their 3-0 win at Peterborough United...
Five more points. That’s all we need. It’s in our hands. Surely, some time in the next two weeks, we’ll be celebrating promotion back to the Championship. Won’t we....??
Yet another big hurdle was overcome at Peterborough. It looked like a really tough fixture, but our super-confident boys simply swept the home team aside. Three points in the bag. Move on to the next one.
It really is ridiculous that we have 91 points and yet we still have work to do to make sure. In any other season, we would have done enough already.
Like many fans, I spend rather too much of my time looking at Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday’s remaining fixtures and trying to work out all the possible scenarios. What if this happens? What if that happens?
Then I put my sensible head back on, and remember Kieran McKenna’s ultra-sensible mantra.
Just focus on us, make sure we do our job, and don’t waste emotional energy on thinking about the others.

You can’t control what happens with them. He is, of course, spot-on. Very sensible, level-headed young man.
That highly professional, non-emotional attitude will stand us in good stead during this oh-so tense final part of the season.
He and his coaching team will keep the players focused, grounded, and concentrating on the job in hand. It’s the oldest cliche in football, but let’s take it one game at a time...
What a result it was at Peterborough. As I said, it looked for all the world like a tough one. But we needn’t have worried. Three terrific goals and yet another clean sheet saw to that.
It was good to see Wes Burns on the scoresheet with a smart finish. His return to top form has been a big factor in our incredible run. Assists, goals and overall excellent contributions from the Welshman.
Talking of Welshmen, the sublime influence of Nathan Broadhead has made an incredible difference.
What a player he is. Another superb assist for Conor Chaplin’s goal at Peterborough. As I’ve asked before - what is he doing in League One?

Another sharp finish from Conor Chaplin. At this rate, he could easily end up winning the League One Golden Boot. It will surely be between him and our inspirational skipper, Sam Morsy, for the player of the year award.
And, last but certainly not least, what a lovely goal from Freddie Ladapo. Somehow he seems a different, much more effective player when he comes on as a sub.
I’m sure he won’t want to be labelled as a super-sub, but he’s certainly carving out that role for himself at the moment.
In Chaplin and Ladapo, we have two 20-goal strikers for the first time since 1981-82.
That is a long, long time ago, at the tail end of the Bobby Robson glory era, and so this is quite an achievement for our present-day duo.
So we move on, this time to Barnsley. Once again, it’s a really tough-looking fixture. The Yorkshire outfit still have a very slim chance of making the top two, but realistically are looking at the play-offs.
I’m sure James Norwood is looking forward to renewing acquaintances. He will be aiming to find a way to unlock our rock-solid defence. Let’s hope he doesn’t turn out to be the ultimate panto villain.
From villains to heroes, and a word of praise for Christian Walton and his defenders for yet another shut-out at Peterborough.

Our keeper made two crucial saves at London Road, and has had a super season. Another one who certainly doesn’t belong at this level.
We’ll know a lot more this time next week. Will we be celebrating? Or will it go to a nerve-jangling final day? I wouldn't bet against it!
Finally, to local football and huge congratulations to Ipswich Wanderers for securing back-to-back league titles. They’ve had a brilliant season, and will now be playing in the Isthmian League North - their highest-ever level. Well done, boys, absolutely fantastic.
