The referee for Ipswich Town's home game with Charlton Athletic tomorrow has been replaced.
James Bell had originally been assigned to the fixture - someone who has received publicity in the past for being a supporter of Sheffield Wednesday.
Given Ipswich are vying with Wednesday for automatic promotion at the business end of the League One season, both the club and supporters raised concerns over a potential conflict of interest.
As a result, the PGMOL has replaced Bell with Sam Barrott.
Barrott has been in charge of two Town games this season - the 1-1 draw at Cambridge United and the 1-1 home draw with Bolton - and awarded the opposition a penalty in both matches.
He was also in charge of Kieran McKenna’s first match in charge of the Blues, the 1-0 home win over Wycombe Wanderers in December 2021.
Barrott had been down to be fourth official for the League Two game between Stevenage and AFC Wimbledon this weekend.
