Ipswich Town have taken their option to extend the deal of defender Janoi Donacien by an extra year.
The move will see the utility defender remain at Portman Road for the 2023/24 campaign. His current deal was due to expire in the summer.
Donacien, who signed for the club from Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2018, has had quite the journey to establish himself as a first team player, going out on loan to Stanley and Fleetwood before finally nailing down a place.
The 29-year-old began the season as Town's starting right back, but has seen January signing Harry Clarke edge ahead of him in recent weeks.
Regardless, he's played 37 times for the Blues this season, and can always be relied on to perform when called upon - an outstanding one-on-one defender, he can also play in the centre of the back line.
Donacien said: "I’m delighted to have it confirmed that I will extend my stay at the club for another year.
"This is a great group to be a part of, so I’m excited to continue that next season.
"For now, though, my full focus is on helping the team achieve what we want to achieve in the coming weeks."
