Ipswich Town beat Burton Albion 4-0 this afternoon. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.

Christian Walton

The Town keeper will be delighted with a fourth-successive clean sheet, which came on an afternoon where the hosts didn’t have too many efforts on goal to deal with. Walton was, though, required to deal with plenty of pressure inside his box and needed to catch some important high balls. He did it all well, while also playing some nice balls from the back.

Harry Clarke

A pleasing part of this afternoon’s victory was seeing the Clarke/Wes Burns partnership take another step forward. Clarke played roles in the first two Ipswich goals, considering a long shot but slipping Burns away for the first, before repeating the trick for the second. Did his bit defensively and displayed real passion at full-time as he whipped up the home fans.

Luke Woolfenden

The centre-half was in the thick of the action early, as he needed to deal with balls into the box and did that well throughout the afternoon. Got into trouble once, when Josh Walker spun him, but partner Cameron Burgess was there to clear up. Those two looks to have locked up the positions once again. Two good performances.

Cameron Burgess

The highlight of the defender’s game was a brilliant tackle to stop Dale Taylor inside the box, while he also won plenty of aerial balls and used his feet well to get Ipswich playing from the back. A good display.

Leif Davis

Much of the goal action came down Ipswich’s right but Davis got in on the act in the second half, when he crossed well for Conor Chaplin to add the fourth. Limped off late on but manager Kieran McKenna didn’t seem too concerned.

Sam Morsy

A solid outing for the skipper where he gave the team everything required of him while also perhaps having further gears to find if he needed them. The partnership with Massimo Luongo looks a natural one.

Massimo Luongo

A first Ipswich start for the Australian saw him produce an excellent performance, adding physicality and forward drive to the Town midfield and landing on ball after ball to win possession back for his side. Shot just wide at the start of the second half and was also involved in Town’s third goal.

Wes Burns

Town’s Welsh winger played a vital role in this victory, working up and down the right flank, helping out at the back and taking his time to deliver some dangerous balls into the box. Had threatened before feeding Chaplin for the opener and also sent in the cross for Nathan Broadhead to slam home.

Conor Chaplin

Another brace for the attacker takes him onto 19 for the season, on an afternoon where he was involved in almost everything Ipswich did. His touch and turn for his first goal was great, with his strike for his second just as nice, even if helped a little by a nick off of a Burton man. He also produced a beautiful pass for Freddie Ladapo’s goal before the break and had a vicious volley saved in the first-half. 9

Nathan Broadhead

The attacker loves playing at Portman Road. He’s scored three in three here now - his goal in this game came as he arrived late in the box to finish from Burns’ pull-back. He was a danger to Burton throughout, taking balls in tight areas and looking to create from them.

Freddie Ladapo

Another good display from the striker, who was physical, made some great attacking runs and looked to play on the counter a little more than we have maybe seen from him at times. Produced an excellent finish as he netted Ipswich’s third.

George Hirst (for Ladapo, 70)

On once Town were 4-0 up and continued to press for his side even though the game was won.

Marcus Harness (for Chaplin, 70)

Forced two saves from the Burton keeper during his 20 minutes on the pitch, looking to make an impact. 7

Part of the wave of substitutes with Town 4-0 up, giving the attacker some minutes on the pitch. 6

Cameron Humphreys (for Luongo, 75)

Dropped out of the starting XI today to accommodate Luongo, but came on and contributed well. Still has a big role to play.

Janoi Donacien (for Davis, 83)

On for the final few minutes of the game once Davis limped off. n/a
