The last side to beat Ipswich Town in League One, Oxford United, have sacked manager Karl Robinson after a seventh defeat in eight games.
The U's have taken just one point from their awful run and lost 3-0 at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
They lost won a game on January 21, a 2-1 win over Town in the fog - also the last time Town lost in the league.
Defeat yesterday left them 17th in League One, five points above the relegation zone, with the club acting to stop the slide.
Robinson took charge in March 2018 and has twice taken the U's into the League One play-offs. They finished eighth last season.
"Oxford United can confirm the departure of Karl Robinson who leaves his role as head coach at the club with immediate effect," a club statement read.
"The board would like to thank Karl for his hard work and efforts in the five years since he joined but recent results and performances mean that a change is needed.
"The search for a new head coach will be thorough and extensive and is already under way."
Craig Short, Leon Blackmore-Such and Wayne Brown will take caretaker charge of the team.
Speaking after Saturday's defeat, Robinson said: "The criticism and the negativity is to be expected and is accepted.
"The last two months have been as bad as I've had in my career and some of the performances certainly haven't been good enough.
"It hurts. It hurts me, it hurts the players and equally I know it hurts the fans."
