Ipswich Town drew 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.

Christian Walton

Could do little about the two Wednesday goals on an afternoon where he wasn’t called upon too many times, but was required to rush out and force Michael Smith wide after he somehow found a clear run at the Town goal. Caught some good high balls and worked well inside his box.

Harry Clarke

Town's right-back was pulled around at times in the first-half but, like so many, was stronger in the second half as he found it easier and easier to get on the ball and drive forward with Town tails up. Had a shot from outside the box blocked and another dangerous cross drift onto the roof of the net. 6

Luke Woolfenden

The centre-half, back in the league side, was beaten by Smith for the opening goal of the game during a first-half including a handful of sloppy moments. Most notable was a ball in behind him which he left, allowing Smith to break towards goal before the chance ultimately fizzled out. Was much more solid after the break.

Cameron Burgess

Back in the side and a good display from the big centre-back. He won plenty of headers in dangerous positions and tracked runners well. Was on the scene along with Davis as Barry Bannan’s ball into the box ultimately broke for George Byers to slam home, but was a positive influence for his side.

Leif Davis

The defender ultimately found Ipswich’s equaliser here as he whipped in a free-kick with real pace which took a flick off a Wednesday head before flying in. Couldn’t get a strong enough defensive header on Bannan’s ball into the box, before pushing on a little more and showing more quality in the second half. 7

Sam Morsy

The skipper called on the Ipswich fans to give their all from the stands in the build-up to this game and did his best to whip them up during the match. Kept trying to drive his team forward throughout, landing on loose balls, winning it back and recycling possession, especially in the second half. Davis revealed after the game how the captain had been a vocal figure in the dressing room at the break, after which he raised his and his team’s standards.

Cameron Humphreys

Another really big test for a young player who never seems overawed by what’s in front of him. Yes there were moments where he was outmuscled by bigger and stronger Wednesday players but he kept on going and was a positive influence on his side.

Wes Burns

Won the penalty in the first half as he hit the deck following a Wednesday arm, which later turned out to belong to Marvin Johnson. Had a stronger second half than his first, as many did, as he began to link more and more with Clarke before being replaced.

Conor Chaplin

The attacker’s first big moment of this game saw him send his penalty down the middle and off the foot of Wednesday keeper Cameron Dawson. That blow could have been enough to swallow a player up, on such a big day, but to his credit he kept his head up and had two efforts saved in the second half before being replaced. One of those efforts involved outrageously good technique as he sent a volley at goal. 6

Nathan Broadhead

The former Everton player’s first Ipswich Town goal was a vital one. The Blues would surely not have rescued a point this afternoon had he not curled home a stunning free-kick just before half-time. The rest of his game saw some good moments where he nipped balls away from opponents to start attacks and work from tight areas, while he was also static on the edge of the box as Byers burst past him to score Wednesday’s second.

George Hirst

Was given the start against his former club and did his best to put himself about and create for his side. Had a couple of sights of goal which were blocked away before being replaced in the second half. 6

Freddie Ladapo (for Hirst, 68)

Showed a good touch as he looked to hold the ball up and give Town a threat late in the game, before seeing a shot bounce wide at the death. From certain angles, with the keeper rooted to the spot, it would have looked like it was going in.

Marcus Harness (for Chaplin, 68)

Some good work in dangerous areas during his spell in the game, as well as some good defensive work at times.

Kayden Jackson (for Burns, 80)

Town couldn’t quite use his pace down the right in the way they would have liked during the final 10 minutes.

Sone Aluko (for Broadhead, 80)

A few good touches in some decent positions but the late Ipswich Town substitutes couldn’t force a winner.

Greg Leigh (for Davis, 86)

On for the closing stages and made a good block to keep Smith away from goal.
