Ipswich Town lost 2-1 to Burnley in the FA Cup this evening. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.
Vaclav Hladky
Back in the side following his excellent display in the first staging and couldn’t do much about conceding inside the first minute, before his first half consisted of plenty of ball at feet, some well-timed runs outside his box to clear and a shot from Samuel Bastien was held well. Stopped from Johann Berg Gudmundsson late in normal time but couldn’t keep Nathan Tella’s winner out. He's shown that Town have two very good goalkeepers over these two matches. 7
Janoi Donacien
Tucked inside and defended narrowly on a few occasions which sometimes made for hard work but he was able to recover more often than not. Survived penalty appeals in the second half when he and George Edmundson converged on Tella. 7
Luke Woolfenden
The defender gave the ball away in midfield and was then pulled out of position a little for the opener but recovered well from that defensively, cutting out some crosses at key times at the front post and managed to deal with some dangerous situations well. Had some casual moments in this one, though, which saw him lose possession in dangerous positions. Looked like he was fouled in the build-up to Burnley’s winner. 6
George Edmundson
Started again alongside Woolfenden and saw Lyke Foster skip inside him for the opening goal inside a minute. He recovered well from there, though, and battled away with some good Burnley forwards for the rest of the game. Like Donacien, he survived those late penalty appeals. 7
Greg Leigh
In at left-back and showed his quality in the air, winning plenty of balls in good positions and bringing a level of strength to Town’s left-back area. Kept going throughout and showed his manager he can be relied upon. 8
Sam Morsy
The skipper once again played in this game, with Massimo Luongo and Lee Evans injured, and emptied his tank of energy over the course of the 90 minutes. He landed on loose balls more often than not and put his foot in when needed. Dropped deeper in the second half but kept going. 8
Cameron Humphreys
Not overawed at all while playing against a quality opponent. Solid on the ball, used it well and managed to put his foot in on loose balls to win it back. Was crowded out physically on a couple of occasions but kept on going throughout, showing real bravery. 8
Kayden Jackson
Just as he did in the first staging, Jackson was a leading performer for the Blues here, working extremely hard up and down the right flank, leading attacks and doing his bit at the back. His run from the last shoulder and excellent cross made the equaliser and he had a shot of his own saved in the second half, before coming off having completely emptied his tank. 8
Sone Aluko
The attacker was a box of tricks throughout his time on the field, taking the ball in tight situations before twisting and turning to keep his side moving. His best effort saw him do exactly that before sending a beautiful pass through for Jackson, who crossed for the equaliser. 8
Marcus Harness
The attacker played from the left side and worked hard to link play for his team, having a shot of his own saved and producing a really nice touch which freed Leigh and Jackson to create a chance for the latter, before being replaced. 7
George Hirst
Produced the perfect response after Town went behind, holding his run nicely before attacking Jackson’s cross to bundle home the leveller. Worked hard throughout, looking to play on the last shoulder and leading the Ipswich press. 9
Freddie Ladapo (for Hirst, 70)
Continued the hard work Hirst started in attack but didn’t manage to have the same sights of goal. 6
Conor Chaplin (for Aluko, 70)
On at a time when Ipswich were having less and less of the ball but still put in the hard work required of him. 6
Nathan Broadhead (for Harness, 70)
Didn’t have too many opportunities to get on the ball and work but still helped his side. 6
Kyle Edwards (for Jackson, 79)
Had a few decent moments where he was able to get on the ball and attack the Burnley box. 6
