LATE NIGHT FOR TYKES
The Tykes left it late, with two of their three signings announced after the 11pm deadline.
Striker Oli Shaw, 24, fired Kilmarnock back into the Scottish Premier League last season.
Midfielder Jon Russell, 22, was an integral part of the Huddersfield team that reached the Championship Play-Off Final last season.
Adam Hayton is a teenage goalkeeper who has trained with the Tottenham first team.
DERBY DO HALF A JOB
Rams boss Paul Warne had said he wanted to sign a midfielder and striker on deadline day – he got half his wish as Harvey White arrived on loan from Tottenham .
The 21-year-old midfielder – who made his Premier League debut as a late sub at the start of January – had a loan spell in League One with Portsmouth at the start of 2021.
BOLTON PLUG A GAP
The Trotters went into the final day wanting to sign a centre-half to replace Will Aimson (sold to Exeter).
They got one in the form of England U21 international Luke Mbete on loan from Manchester City.
“He's left-footed, excellent with the ball and athletic enough to defend one-on-one in large spaces,” enthused boss Ian Evatt.
“He went to Huddersfield earlier this season where he didn't perform to his full potential, but part of our transfer policy is to look for players that have a point to prove.”
A STAR IS SOLD
There’s been a growing buzz around skillful Albanian attacker Anis Mehmeti for quite some time.
Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth valued the 22-year-old at between £5m-7m earlier this season.
Theer were plenty of Championship suitors, but Bristol City were the club to get the deal done on deadline day.
“It’s a bittersweet day for us,” said Ainsworth. “We’re losing an influential player from the team, but it’s also a moment of real pride for everyone involved in Anis’s development.”
NOT A HOOT FROM THE OWLS
Aden Flint (as a replacement for Mark McGuinness) ended up being Sheffield Wednesday’s only January addition.
The Sheffield Star’s verdict on deadline day was: "The brass tax of the matter is that Darren Moore didn’t get his wish – he made crystal clear on several occasions that he wanted to end the window stronger than he started it both in terms of numbers and quality. For whatever reason that hasn’t happened.
“There’ll be big tests ahead for what is a tight-knit group in some areas of the squad, especially in busy game weeks."
EXPERIENCE FOR EXETER
Grecians boss Gary Caldwell, whose side are five points adrift of the play-off places, has brought in an experienced head for the run-in.
Former Scotland international Kevin McDonald, 34, is getting his football career going again having had a kidney transplant in April 2021.
The former Burnley, Sheffield United, Wolves and Fulham midfielder has been without a cub since leaving Dundee United last summer.
Striker James Scott, 22, also arrived at St James Park yesterday, signing from Championship club Hull.
COD ARMY RECRUIT FIREPOWER
Okay, so these two deals were done on January 30, but they have to be mentioned.
The Lancashire club, who currently sit 17th in the table, say they paid ‘substantial’ fees to sign proven strikers Jack Marriott and Jayden Stockley from rival third-third clubs Peterborough and Charlton respectively.
Marriott started his career at Ipswich and went on to play for the likes of Luton, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday.
Stockley scored 13 goals in League One last season and has played in the Championship for Preston.
Their arrival allowed Paddy Lane to be sold to Portsmouth on deadline day.
Scott Brown’s men host Ipswich on the final day of the season.

PETERBOROUGH PUNT
Kabongo Tshimanga is the latest non-league striker project at London Road.
The 25-year-old – who has scored 31 goals in just a season-and-a-half at National League side Chesterfield – has joined on loan ‘ahead of a permanent transfer in the summer’.
“He is strong, quick, a scorer of different types of goals and is a really good age. I am really excited about it,” said Posh boss Darren Ferguson.
OXFORD’S STRIKER SWITCH-UP
Matty Taylor, who has scored 64 goals for Oxford United over two spells, has been loaned to fellow League One club Port Vale. He is reunited with his former boss Darrell Clarke.
The 32-year-old was allowed to leave following the arrivals of forward players Tyler Smith (Hull, loan) and Ateef Konate (Nottingham Forest, loan).
