Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says his team can take confidence from the way they matched Championship leaders Burnley in a 0-0 FA Cup fourth round draw at Portman Road this afternoon.

McKenna made eight changes to the team that had beaten Morecambe 4-0 in midweek, but the hard-working Blues still proved more than a match for Vincent Kompany's visitors in an entertaining game of few chances.

"I'm proud of the players and proud of the club," said the Blues boss.

"It was a fantastic crowd (25,420), good atmosphere, a really intense performance by the team and the whole squad contributed and played a part.

"It was a difficult game and a good challenge from a coaching point of view.

"Both teams were presing really high, both teams were really aggressive and both teams were looking to play. Neither gave too many chnaces to the other team to build any sort of rhythm.

"There are a lot of things we'll take from it and learn from.

"That's proably the highest level opponent quite a few of our players have faced. They are probably the best team to come to Portman Road in quite a few years as well. So we should take confidence from it.

"It shows the direction we are going in. Seeing our style of play and principles going up against that level of opponent and staying strong, both on and off the ball, is something we can take confidence from."

Town now head to Cambridge United for a League One clash next Saturday. Three days later will come the replay at Turf Moor before automatic promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday come to Suffolk.

"We're looking forward to it," said McKenna, when asked about his thoughts on having to fit a replay into the schedule.

"Of course you can say we play Sheffield that week and it's a long trip, but at the end of the day these games only make you stronger.

"We'll be better for the experience. We have a big squad, we're fresh, we're fit and we want these games in our career.

"Of course we'd rather have won. We had our moments to do that, but Burnley did as well. Now we look forward to going to Turf Moor for another tough game.

"We have to be humble about that challenge.

"We're one of very few teams to keep a clean sheet against them this season. We did that being really brave with the ball and aggressive with our defending. That's going to be harder again at Turf Moor.

"For now my 100% focus goes to Cambridge. After that we'll get eyes on Burnley and dream about what we could possibly do to get to the next round."

The fifth round draw takes place on BBC One at 7pm on Monday night.
