Stoke City have signed former Ipswich Town attacker Bersant Celina.

The Kosovo international joins the Potters on loan from French club Dijon, after his temporary stay in Turkey with Kasimpasa was terminated early.

Stoke had been interested in signing Celina on loan during the summer window but could not due to work permit complications, which meant Ipswich were the only English team he could join.

The Blues did show interest in the 26-yeat-old, who scored six goals for the club last season, but the attacker opted to move to Turkey instead.

The move didn't work out, with Celina now set to spend the second half of the campaign in the Championship.

Stoke manager Alex Neil said: “I’m delighted we have managed to secure the services of Bersant. He’s a player who knows the Championship well and it’s apparent that he is really keen to make his mark again in English football.”

Technical director Ricky Martin added: “We are really pleased to have made Bersant our second signing of this transfer window. Technically, he’s a very exciting player who will bring great creativity to our squad and I know he wants to make his time with us a success. I’m sure everyone will get behind him and help him settle into his new environment.”

Celina returns to English football having initially played for Manchester City, with his two loan spells at Ipswich coming either side of his time with Swansea and spell in France with Dijon.

He still has a year to run on his deal with the Ligue 2 club.
