Former Ipswich Town player and coach Kieron Dyer is understood to be in the running for the vacant Swindon Town manager's job.
Dyer is believed to be one of several candidates being interviewed by the League Two club following Scott Lindsey's move to league rivals Crawley Town.
Former QPR coach Marc Bircham is the bookies' favourite.
The Swindon Advertiser reports that ex-Crewe boss David Artell, England U19s manager Ian Foster and ex-Swindon player Matt Taylor are also in contention.
Dyer quit his role as Town's Under-23s boss last March and recently opened up about how he was left 'mentally broken' by his hometown club snubbing him for the role of caretaker boss after Paul Cook had been sacked.
The 44-year-old revealed in October 2021 that he would require a liver transplant due to a rare disease called primary sclerosing cholangitis.
In October last year, he told talkSPORT that his blood results were good and it's understood that his need for a transplant has been suspended as a result.
The former England international - who appeared on TV shows I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and SAS: Who Dares Wins - is currently working towards his UEFA Pro Licence badge and has been shadowing England coaches at various age group levels.
Swindon are currently eighth-place in the League Two table and only outside of the play-off places on goal difference.
