Ipswich Town beat Rotherham United 4-1 in the FA Cup this afternoon. Andy Warren hands out his player ratings.

Vaclav Hladky

A first Ipswich appearance since the end of November ended in a comfortable afternoon for the Czech stopper, who had little to do but did all that was required of him well enough. Beaten by Conor Washington’s penalty, which ultimately proved academic after an impressive afternoon for the hosts.

Kane Vincent-Young

A good afternoon for the Ipswich right-back who kept pushing throughout, ultimately winning the second Town penalty at the end of a game where he contributed well and played some nice balls. His best Ipswich appearance for a while.

Richard Keogh

Started the game confidently, striding forward and getting his side moving into midfield while looking after things at the back. The penalty he conceded was rash as he stretched to deny Washington, who had beaten him into the box, but he recovered from it well enough.

George Edmundson

Back in the Ipswich side this afternoon and put in a solid display at the heart of defence, as the Blues managed to largely keep a Rotherham side playing in the Championship at arms’ length.

Leif Davis

The left-back returned to the team after illness and attacked well, giving Ipswich width on his side as Conor Chaplin played in a more-narrow attacking role ahead of him. Some of Davis’s crossing was superb, with team-mates not always gambling to get on the end of the balls into danger.

Lee Evans

Town’s skipper for the day came out firing in this game, putting his foot into every challenge to try and win the ball back and set his side up to work. Kept things ticking over through, allowing Cameron Humphreys the room to play with freedom. A solid partnership in the engine room.

Cameron Humphreys

Another promising display from a young man who is showing plenty of promise. This was a first game against Championship opposition for the teenager and he wasn’t overawed in the slightest. A great finish for his goal and contributions all over the field to help his side. Well played.

Kayden Jackson

As Town made a fast start to this game, Kayden Jackson was Ipswich’s attacking focal point as they looked to use him down the right flank. He was effective, getting into some good positions to cross and, while they didn’t all find their man, they did stretch Rotherham. His ball back to supply Humphreys was a reward for his hard work, which continued throughout. He’s become an effective right-sider for Ipswich.

Conor Chaplin

As he so often does, Chaplin looked a likely route to goal for the Blues, having some early sniffs before forcing a good save from the Rotherham goalkeeper with a well-struck volley. Continued to take up good positions throughout this game, threatening inside the box and scoring from the spot after the break.

Sone Aluko

The veteran started like a train and was pulling the strings from a deep position during Town’s excellent start, threading balls and looking to find team-mates at every opportunity, while looking after the ball well. Was the first Ipswich player replaced in the second half.

Freddie Ladapo

This was a big game for the striker, who was facing his former club at a time when a potential new striker signing was watching from the stands. He delivered an excellent display, characterised by hard work, clever touches with his back to goal and great strength and good positioning to win a penalty for his side. All of that came before he showed supreme composure to skip round the goalkeeper and finish nicely. The roar when his goal hit the net said it all.

Marcus Harness (for Aluko, 67)

The first man off the bench, the attacker had some good creative moments and helped move Ipswich around the pitch.

Greg Leigh (for Davis, 76)

Part of a wave of changes for Town in the second half, replacing Davis on the left flank and contributing well.

Kyle Edwards (for Chaplin, 76)

An eventful cameo appearance for the winger, who played a superb through-ball for Ladapo to score. Hit the post himself and was close to turning home a ball through the box. A good impact.

Wes Burns (for Jackson, 76)

Rested from the start, the Welshman was quick to grab the ball in the closing stages once Vincent-Young had been brought down, converting well from the spot.

Gassan Ahadme (for Ladapo, 83)

On for the final few minutes and put himself about. n/a
