Karl Robinson admitted his Oxford United were ‘completely and utterly beaten in all areas’ by Ipswich Town this afternoon.
After dominating the opening 20 minutes, Robinson’s side lost control of the contest to an Ipswich side who would go on and score twice before half-time, through Freddie Ladapo and Wes Burns.
Ipswich dominance was clear in the second half, punctuated by Conor Chaplin’s strike late on to make the game safe.
“I thought for 30 minutes we were very good, we should’ve took the lead and I said that last week against Sheffield Wednesday,” he said.
“We’re not taking chances when they come along in the first part of games and then once the goal goes in, we lose control.

“In the second half, we lost every individual fight.
“We’ve just been completely and utterly beaten in all areas of our game against the best team in the league.
“We’ve got to make sure that we learn from that.”
Robinson added: “After the first goal, we were so lethargic in an awful lot of areas.
“Our back four was way too deep, we didn’t retain in it the top end of the pitch and lost the duels in the central area, in the second half.
“In every aspect of our play, we were no way near it in the second half.
“We lost our spatial awareness after the first goal and lost where we were.
“Against these teams, they’re going to punish you.”
