Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna says that several players face late fitness tests ahead of tomorrow afternoon's League One home clash with Cheltenham Town.

Tyreece John-Jules (hamstring) and Marcus Harness (illness) sat out Monday night's 3-0 win at Bracknell Town in the FA Cup.

Asked if those two were ready to return to action, McKenna revealed: "We have a few illnesses in Marcus' category and we have a few knocks as well.

"To be honest, we're going to make late checks on quite a few players. We'll see how we are tomorrow after fitness checks and report on that after the game."

Meanwhile, the Blues boss said that Gassan Ahadme and Greg Leigh are close to returning to action following foot and leg fractures respectively.

"Gassan and Greg are very close to training with the group, which is good," said McKenna.

"With Gassan we're thinking he could be available for selection for the Buxton game, which would be a big boost."

On the injured Lee Evans, he said: "I'm not sure on the exact timescales for that. It's in and around the Christmas period.

"He's still in the brace, so it's about letting the ligament in his knee heal at the moment. We don't know how fast that will accelerate."

Panutche Camara has only recently returned to action following groin surgery, making sub appearances against Cambridge and Bracknell in the cup competitions.

"Because of the low numbers he's in matchday squads," said McKenna. "How far away is he from full fitness and full confidence? I still think a little way, to be honest.

"It's hard to come into a team like and a club like this when you haven't had a pre-seaosn and you haven't played much football since March or April last year.

"I still think he's a few weeks away from being at his tip-top condition.

"But with the situation we are in he needs to be ready to play and he is working very hard to do that."

McKenna added: "The squad is quite tight at the moment, it's been that way for maybe six weeks or so now. That's different for us because we started off with quite big numbers.

"It has its positives and its negatives. Everyone feels really close to the team at the moment, we're able to give the players lots of individual attention and we're not having to leave anyone out of matchday squads.

"On the other hand we don't quite have the same options and depth that we had at the start of the season and the ability to make so many substitutes so early in the game and freshen up certain positions.

"That's the way it is. We're making the most of having a tight group at the moment."
