With an excellent weather forecast being widely advertised all roads lead to the West Row home of Mildenhall Speedway this Sunday.
For the third successive year the Fen Tigers promotion will host the prestigious National League Pairs event with the action starting at 3.30pm (gates open at 2pm). Although there’s been a couple of changes to the original line-up, this looks a high class field of the National League’s top riders, many who are riding in the ‘Fast Track’ EL scheme and doubling up in the Premier League. The two groups look evenly balanced and predicting a winning pair is, as always, very difficult.
Defending their 2013 title will be the Cradley Heathens who this time are represented by Steve Worrall and Max Clegg. Last season’s runners up and 2012 title winners Mildenhall Fen Tigers will field Captain Danny Halsey and Number One Joe Jacobs. Throw in track specialist Simon Lambert, Fen Tiger legend Jon Armstrong and exciting young EL Fast Track riders Ben Morley, James Sarjeant and Max Clegg and you have a line-up worthy of such a big occasion.
GROUP A:
COVENTRY: Oliver Greenwood & James Sarjeant
STOKE: Ben Wilson & Jon Armstrong
KING’S LYNN: Darren Mallett & Marc Owen
BUXTON: Liam Carr & Tony Atkin
GROUP B:

Club Chairman Kevin Jolly was excited by the prospects of an exciting meeting on Sunday for the third year running –
“We feel honoured to have been asked to stage this prestigious event for a third consecutive year and hope that today lives up to the two previous years. Who can forget Danny Halsey’s wonder ride to overcome the Coventry pairing of James Sarjeant and Robert Branford to secure our place in last year’s final group? Sadly for us that day we couldn’t quite do enough to retain the trophy we won in 2012, being beaten by a fine and deserving Dudley pair of Ashley Morris and Lewis Blackbird in the final.
I am sure that this is a meeting that speedway supporters of all clubs will want to travel and see, these lads are some of the countries most exciting prospects and you can be sure that they will put on some great racing on a well prepared track. To add a little razzmatazz to the occasion we are pleased to have the Start Line girls from Coventry, who will be in attendance at the forthcoming British Final, with us on Sunday and also we are pleased to welcome the local Harley Davidson club who will be parading prior to the start of the meeting and will have their bikes available to view around the stadium. Add to all that great fish and chips, a good weather forecast and some top class speedway and I can’t think of anywhere else to be this Sunday”
