East Premier A Harleston Magpies 5 Blueharts 0 Harleston started the game strong with early dominance in possession and intensity.

With magical spells of play Magpies were the team to take an early lead. Dave Gilbert’s pass don’t dribble approach found himself with plenty of time and space in the opposition circle.

He calmly slapped the ball first time over the shoulder of the opposition’s goalkeeper into the top right corner of the goal.

Pies then added a quick second, which came from apowerful carry along the Blueharts baseline from Sam Moore. He looked up and passed the ball eventually to an unmarked Giles Flatt and he placed the ball into the goal to make it 2-0 Magpies.

It was soon 3-0 as Archie Winter fired home a penalty flick awarded after Andrew Bedwell’s attempt at goal was stopped on the line by the body of a Blueharts defenders.

There was still time for Magpies to add a fourth before the break, as Gilbert added his second by rounding the Blueharts’ keeper and finishing in style.

After an encouraging first half display, Magpies looked to mirror that.

Chances came regularly in the second half for Harleston but Sam Patterson couldn’t convert with a number of short corners he had.

Simon Hipwell was another who missed three consecutive attempts to score from three yards out with the post stopping his final effort.

But he duly made up for his effort with a wonder goal reverse stick shot from the top of the circle, putting the Magpies 5-0 to the good.

With this Blueharts knowingly shut up shop and made life difficult for Magpies to play as goal difference could be something both teams treasure come the end of the season.

Harleston closed-out the game in a professional manner and the final whistle blew. Jonty Gosling, in particular, showed his class right until the very end and was deserving of the man of the match award.

Another solid performance and clean sheet builds towards this week’s away fixture against Cambridge University.
