Two drivers were taken to hospital after two cars were left on their roofs after a crash in a busy Ipswich road.

The incident happened at about 7.45am on Monday in Woodbridge Road at the Howard Street junction, near Ipswich Hospital, Suffolk police said.

According to police, ambulance crews were called to the scene.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman later confirmed two people had been taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment for their injuries.

However, their conditions are not known at this time.

Pictures from the scene showed a Mercedes and a Vauxhall were upside-down after the crash.
