Part of the A137 at Manningtree Station was closed this morning after a van struck the railway bridge.
The road was partially blocked after the accident on the A137 near Manningtree Station and the driver was reported for careless driving.
It was first reported at around 9am this morning and traffic remained heavy for drivers in both directions for some time.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 8.40am on Tuesday, December 22 with reports a van had struck a bridge at Manningtree train station.
"It was removed by 10.15am and the driver was reported for careless driving."
Ipswich Buses tweeted that there would be delays to its 92 service as a result of the collision.
