A man has died following a two-car a crash on the A12 near Southwold.
Suffolk police were called to Blythburgh shortly after 6.50pm yesterday to a two-car collision on the northbound A12, near the A1095.
It involved a grey Renault Clio and a brown Volkswagen Touareg.
A man in his 30s was cut out of his Renault Clio by Suffolk Fire and Rescue.
He died in the East of England Ambulance Service vehicle while being taken to hospital.
The driver of the Touareg, a man aged in his 70s, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the James Paget University Hospital, in Gorleston.
Road closures were put in place while an investigation was carried out.
This is the second fatal collision on the A12 this week in Suffolk after a woman in her 20s died in a single vehicle crash on Monday, August 2 near Stratford St Mary.
A spokesman for Suffolk Constabulary said the crash is extremely distressing.
“To see a second fatality in a week on our roads in Suffolk is extremely sad and distressing for everyone concerned," the spokesman said.
"We would reiterate to motorists to be mindful of their manner of driving and to not become complacent. Watch your speed, don’t check your phone, wear a seatbelt and don’t drink or drug drive.
"We will continue to prosecute anyone who puts other road users lives at risk.”
This also comes after Suffolk police issued a warning for road users after the amount of fatal collisions on Suffolk roads this year has also surpassed last years total.
In 2010 there were 10 fatalities caused by road traffic collisions and there has already been 14 fatal crashes on Suffolk roads this year.
Suffolk officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, along with anyone who had a dashcam and was driving in the area at the time.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting CAD 311 of August 4.
