FELIXSTOWE: Two Ipswich Town hooligans are today barred from attending football matches for three years after being given banning orders.

Damion Trenter, of Cricket Hill Road, Felixstowe, and Damien Scott, of St Andrews Road, Felixstowe, are now prohibited from attending games in England, Wales, and Scotland until late 2013.

Trenter, 24, was arrested for making threats against a police officer following a disturbance after Ipswich’s 2-1 home win against Leeds on October 2.

Between 30 and 40 Leeds’ fans, whose coaches were parked in the old cattle market opposite the ground, tried to surge towards Town supporters in Portman Road.

Police had to use batons and dogs to contain the Yorkshire club’s fans. While officers were trying to clear an area between supporters of both sides Trenter threatened a police constable.

When he appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court Trenter pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and was also ordered to pay �250 costs.

Scott, 22, is understood to have spat at three stewards when he was due to be ejected during Ipswich’s game against Portsmouth at Fratton Park on September 11.

He admitted three counts of battery when he appeared before Portsmouth magistrates. As well as his banning order Scott was given a community order with six months supervision by probation. He was also given a three-month curfew order.

Following the bans Pc Marc Norman, Suffolk Police’s football intelligence officer, said: “These two orders send out a message to fans about the consequences of what happens when people misbehave.”

A Crown Prosecution Service spokesman said: “We hope these men will take stock of their actions – which have intimidated genuine football fans and innocent members of the public – and are deterred from similar behaviour in the future.”
