A popular Suffolk bakery has announced it will close down after its owners were injured in a crash.
Weston’s Bakery in Gaol Lane in Sudbury will close its doors for the final time today after owners Pat and Chris Weston were injured in a crash between Sudbury and Halstead on Friday.
In an emotional post on Facebook their daughter Liz said: “It is with very heavy hearts that Saturday will be our last day of trading.
“My parents, Chris and Pat Weston, were involved in an accident. They are lucky to be alive. Both were taken by ambulance to hospital.
Mum has since been discharged although is in a lot of pain. Dad is being kept in with broken ribs and a possible broken wrist. Both are extremely shaken.”
It comes after they company’s King Street store closed suddenly overnight last month.
The post added: “The universe seems to have been conspiring against us for the last few months and this was the final straw.
“As a family, we are no longer able to continue the fight to keep our doors open.
“Thank you to all of our customers, many of whom have become friends. We will miss seeing all of you and can’t say enough how much we have appreciated your support.
“To all of our wonderful staff who have worked so hard to help us grow the business and who have really stepped up in our time of need, we thank each and every one of you. Past and Present.
“We are so sorry to have let you down but we know with all the skills, care and work ethic you have shown us, especially in recent months, you will all go on to great things.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you and just wish we could have all continued together.”
