A zoo will be hosting a festive fundraising Santa run.

Africa Alive has invited people to take part in a Santa run around the zoo to raise funds for its conservation mission.

The event will take place on Sunday, December 22, at 8.45am.

Participants can walk, run, skip, or stroll around the 1.5km route.

The zoo has also encouraged people to dress in Santa or Christmas fancy dress.

The route is suitable for all ages and abilities and is on a flat pathway, making it accessible for everyone.

On the route around the zoo, participants will be able to see animals including meerkats, giraffes, and zebras.

After completing the route, participants will receive a medal and can enjoy a hot chocolate and bacon roll.

Vegan and vegetarian options will also be available.

All money raised will go towards the care of the zoo's animals.

Tom Craig-Moonie, head of operations at ZSEA, said: "We are delighted to be hosting a brand-new Santa Run at Africa Alive this December 22.

"It will be a fantastic festive family event for the community to come together and spread some Christmas spirit all in aid of charity.

"We can’t wait to see everyone get involved and have some Christmas fun raising money for the conservation and care of animals.

"For the first time, the Santa run is for all the family, suitable for all ages and abilities, with walkers encouraged. This way everyone can be involved.

"We are looking forward to seeing all the amazing Christmas costumes and welcome everyone to join us for the Santa Run 2024."

Tickets are £15 for people aged three and over.

Tickets for children aged two and under are £10.

All tickets must be purchased online and shown at the gate for entry on the day.
