Overnight closures have been announced for the A14 eastbound carriageway outside of Ipswich.

National Highways said the westbound carriageway work outside of the town was due to be completed on Friday, November 22.

The closures were originally meant to take place from from August to October but due to poor weather conditions the closures were pushed back.

National Highways has announced that following the completion of the westbound work it will resume overnight closures for the eastbound carriageway.

This will last three weeks on weeknights only and began on Monday to continue through to Saturday, December 14, depending on the weather.

It will take place between 8pm and 6am.

Diversion routes will be in place while the carriageways are closed.

The closures will be in place between junction 52 and the Copdock Interchange.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Following feedback from residents, when full closures are required on the A14 eastbound carriageway, we will implement a road closure at Paper Mill Lane to prevent unsuitable vehicles using this as a cut through. Access to the Premier Inn will still be available.

"We are committed to minimising disruption for residents along the diversion route and will continue monitoring traffic on the B1113. We are working closely with local representatives to address any concerns and implement mitigation measures where possible."
