A Suffolk man has been ordered to pay more than £2,000 for selling pets without the correct licence.
James Goodchild, who runs Salty Revolution in Hampstead Avenue, Mildenhall, was convicted by Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in September.
According to court documents, the 50-year-old had been “selling animals as pets” as part of business, Salty Revolution, "without the authority of a licence for that purpose", contrary to the Animal Welfare Act, 2006.
The documents stated that this took place on January 17 last year.
Goodchild entered a plea of not guilty in May of that year. However, he was found guilty on September 24.
He was fined £100, and ordered to pay a surcharge of £40, which goes towards victims’ services.
Goodchild was also told to cover the costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, an amount of £1,885.79.
This brings the total figure which Goodchild must pay to £2,025.79.
