The family of a keen gardener and badminton player have paid tribute to her after she died following a crash in a seaside town. 

Mary Kinsey died after a crash in Church Road in Felixstowe at about 2.30pm on Tuesday, November 19. 

The 74-year-old was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment for her injuries but later died, Suffolk police said.

The collision involved a Nissan GTR.

Mrs Kinsey's family have said in a tribute that she will be "missed by so many".

They added in a statement: "Mary was a loving wife to husband Ken and mother to sons Mark and Jonathan.

"She enjoyed meeting her friends and going for walks along the Prom in her hometown.

"Mary was caring and loved helping other people.  

"A keen gardener, she spent a lot of time tending her plants, while she had previously been a keen badminton player.

"Mary was taken from us in a terrible collision and will sadly by missed by so many."

Lewis Meadows was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle-taking, failing to stop after a collision, using a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to report a collision.

The 18-year-old, of Cliff Road in the town, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 21, where he was bailed to attend Ipswich Crown Court on December 19.

The crash left the community in shock as Felixstowe town councillor Nick Barber said he feels "very sad for the family involved". 

He added: "These things just don't seem to happen in Felixstowe and unfortunately it has happened now and I hope that it will be the only one that I will remember in my lifetime."
