A writer and broadcaster who has been making the nation laugh for more than 40 years has confirmed extra dates for her tour - with one in Bury St Edmunds.

Pam Ayres MBE will bring her Doggedly Onward to the west Suffolk town on March 11, 2025, to celebrate the release of her latest book which was released on October 3.

The new book brings together, in a single volume, Pam’s life in poems with illustrations and annotations throughout and her own reflections on her decades of experience in the industry.

Ayres first appeared on TV in 1975 when she won the TV talent show Opportunity Knocks and has gone on to perform to audiences across the globe.

In 2004 she was given an MBE for services to literature and entertainment and in 2022 she took to the renowned Glastonbury Festival stage to entertain crowds with her witty verses.

She has appeared on screen most recently on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend, This Morning, Would I Lie To You, The Cotswolds with Pam Ayres and The Cotswolds and Beyond with Pam Ayres.

Other published titles include Pam Ayres on Animals, which was the UK's bestselling poetry book of 2021, and Who Are You Calling Vermin? published in 2022.

Ayres is one of only a few authors to have had their books included in the Sunday Times bestseller charts in almost every decade since the 1970s.

Shortly after its release in early October, Ayres' latest book Doggedly Onward: A Life In Poems topped the best seller list on Amazon.

The autumn 2024 leg of her recent theatre tour was a sell-out success.

The Doggedly Onward tour will run from February to April 2025 and will appear at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on March 11, and visit the Colchester Mercury Theatre on March 2.
