Six musical performances at Ipswich venue linked to Wolsey

SIX: Teen Edition is hitting the stage at St Peter's by the Waterfront from Friday, November 29, to Sunday, December 1, thanks to arts group Limelight Performers.

The musical focuses on the Tudor monarch's six wives and is hailed a "remix of five hundred years of historical heartbreak".

Limelight have called "a Euphoric Celebration of 21st-century girl power". 

Two teams of young performers will play Henry's wives while an all-female live band will play the 'Ladies in Waiting' on stage.

St Peter's by the Waterfront music and arts centre. (Image: Contributed) The initial schedule of four performances sold out quickly so two additional performances have been scheduled over the weekend although there is limited availability in terms of tickets.

Wolsey's Gate. (Image: Archant) Thomas Wolsey planned to build Cardinal College from St Peter’s Dock to Silent Street and the foundation stone was laid on the 20 June 1528.  

Wolsey's Gate in the 18th century. (Image: Archant) St Peter's on the Waterfront was due to be the college chapel and the water gate known as Wolsey's Gate still stands outside the church. However, the idea of a college was abandoned following Wolsey's death in 1530.
