St Edmundsbury Cathedral opened its doors for a special after-hours event in Bury St Edmunds.
The 'Cathedrals at Night: History Comes Alive' event took place on Friday, November 22.
The free event allowed families to experience the cathedral after hours.
Visitors were able to interact with historical figures such as Abbot Anselm, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Jocelyn de Brakelond, and an Abbey Cook, all portrayed by members of the Irving Stage Company.
The cathedral was filled with interactive crafts, storytelling, and activities, including Lego.
Books from the ancient library were also on display.
Mulled wine and hot chocolate were available to keep visitors warm.
The evening concluded with a choir performance of 'Compline,' an ancient night prayer sung by monks.
Sarah Friswell, St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s visitor experience manager, said: "It always feels special to open the doors after dark and do something a little different for our local community.
"This year, with Cathedrals at Night: History Comes Alive, we blended history, heritage and creativity in a novel way by encouraging visitors to interact with the town’s historical figures and hear their stories."
