Suffolk superstar Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance on the Sky Sports panel following the Ipswich Town vs Manchester United game.

Sheeran, who is a minority shareholder in Town, gatecrashed new United manager Ruben Amorim's first post-match interview after the game at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.

Sky Sports presenter Kelly Cates alongside former Blues manager Roy Keane, Izzy Christiansen and Jamie Redknapp were speaking with the new Red Devils boss following the 1-1 draw against Kieran McKenna's men, when Sheeran walked into the interview wearing his ITFC jacket.

Sheeran was in a happy mood after Omari Hutchinson's stunner levelled the score from Marcus Rashford's early opener.

Cates said: "Ed Sheeran has come to join us. Ed, we're just chatting to Ruben Amorim who may not want to talk to an Ipswich fan."

The Shape of You singer said: "I love it. I love being back in the Premier League."

The presenter then said: "We're really glad to hear from you," before Redknapp said to Sheeran: "You gonna come and say hello in a minute?"

The Framlingham-based singer songwriter was then seen slowly walking out of the shot before the interview continued.

Some Manchester United fans did not take well with Sheeran interrupting Amorim's interview.

One fan said on social media: "Don't care who he is, but think this was so rude and disrespectful."

While another one described the moment as "a bit awkward".

They said: "Amorim did not look happy when Sky Sports allowed Ed Sheeran to gatecrash his interview.

"Was a bit awkward. Sheeran looked like he just wanted to give Redknapp a hug and the whole Sky team got easily distracted.

"If you ask the manager to talk to you, show him some respect."
