Seven new homes could be built on an 'underused' parcel of land associated with a home off of a key route in Haverhill.

The applicant is seeking permission from West Suffolk Council to build the seven one and a half storey homes at The Links in Withersfield Road.

The plans include an associated access road, parking and alterations to the current vehicular access.

Plans state the site is a "large underused parcel of superfluous private amenity" behind The Links, which is "screened" by trees.

The Links itself is a one and a half storey building and the plans suggest the seven new builds would be in keeping with the style.

"The proposed development would demonstrate satisfactory provision of amenity, design, environment and highway criteria and is of no material detriment to the character of this part of Haverhill and its surroundings," it states.

"One and a half storey dwellings have been chosen to reflect the design of the ‘Host’ Dwelling, as well as the one and a half storey dwellings within this part of Haverhill," it adds.

Plans are with West Suffolk Council for consideration.
