A man and his pet dog have been rescued after a bungalow fire broke out in a west Suffolk town.
Emergency services were called to Beaufort Court in Haverhill following reports of a blaze at about 12.10am on Friday.
Fire crews, police and paramedics were all called to the blaze that broke out in a semi-detached bungalow, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said.
The fire started in the kitchen and the alarm was raised by a neighbour who saw smoke and flames coming from the home.
A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said four firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze and rescued a man and his pet dog.
The man was taken to hospital after he suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for Sudbury and Haverhill police said because of the response of the people living nearby and the emergency services, those inside the home were safely evacuated.
The fire service called a stop time on the incident at about 2.10am and an investigation into the blaze is due to take place.
