The countdown is on until comedy stars take to the stage to try and raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospice. 

Ahead of Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones and West End talent Ruthie Henshall's performance at the Ipswich Regent next month, Griff Rhys Jones spoke to the paper about the effects of the show on families across East Anglia.

The 'Happy Christmas' show on Monday, December 9, will also feature comedians Dave Baddiel and Joe Pasquale.

Celebrity patron Griff Rhys Jones said: "This will be our fifth big show in Ipswich and it's a sell-out every time."

The show raises money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices and will head to Norwich and Cambridge on the mini tour for the first time.

He continued: "You see the effect the fundraising has on people and it acts as a reminder.

"It’s an incredibly practical thing, it’s not about death, it’s about life.

"I've seen families who have been through the hospice for only a few months as their children fall ill suddenly, or they are supported for years, every case is different."

The show has previously been attended by Eddie Izzard and Dara O'Brien with the previous four performances having raised a total of £404,500 for EACH.

Rhys Jones said: "It impresses and overwhelms me and I am staggered by the courage, determination and love from these families who's lives have changed completely.

"I'm very lucky to have two children live to adulthood, I have four adorable grandchildren who I love and I want to help people who don’t have that because I honestly don't know if I could do what these families do."
