A Christmas lights switch-on event has been cancelled due to a poor weather forecast.
Aldeburgh Town Council has said the lights turn-on event which was expected to take place in the town on Saturday will now no longer go ahead.
Councilor Alistair Lumpkin said: "It is with much regret that Aldeburgh Town Council have taken the decision to cancel the Christmas Light Switch-on event planned for Saturday.
"The reason for the cancellation is the predicted weather forecast of heavy rain and 50mph winds. These conditions would greatly increase the health and safety risks for the event.
"The good news is the Christmas Craft Fair will definitely go ahead as planned from 10am till 2pm inside the Jubilee Hall.
"All the trees are up in the High Street above the great variety of shops which will be open for business and ready to serve you."
The Met Office has warned of strong winds hitting the county on Saturday with some places along the Suffolk coast expected to reach winds of up to 58mph.
Inland areas could also see gale force 10 winds of 49mph.
The gales are expected to be at their strongest between 9am and 3pm on Saturday.
Mr Lumpkin also said that due to the strong winds that have been forecast for Saturday the funfair will no longer be held on Moot Green and the harpist will be unable to play in the wind and rain.
The council has said that the windy weather would also make it risky to put up the marquee and sound system.
The Christmas lights on Moot Hall tree will be switched on from 5pm on Saturday as planned, Mr Lumpkin confirmed.
