A historic bridge will finally be repaired after it was struck in a crash more than a year ago.

Mick Fraser, Suffolk County Councillor for Hadleigh, said: "Because of the age of the bridge the county council had to have consent from Historic England.

"It has been broken for 18 months. Residents have been querying why it has not been done."

Work to repair the Grade II listed bridge will be completed in two stages between Monday, December 2 and Friday, December 13.

Road closures are set to be in place along Duke Street and Layham Road while it is restored.

Traffic will be diverted along the B1070, A1071, Rands Road, Overbury Hall Road, Potts Lane and vice versa.

Road users will be asked to move their vehicles from the area which is highlighted by 'no parking' cones.
