A Suffolk automation and manufacturing firm has welcomed a Lincolnshire-based company into its fold, in its second acquisition in two years.
Beccles based PCE Automation Ltd has acquired Olmec-UK, a vision inspection and web conversion provider in Barton-upon-Humber, north Lincolnshire.
The strategic acquisition will enable the Suffolk company to strengthen its existing presence in the life science sector, incorporating vision inspection and web conversion capabilities into its offering.
PCE Automation now plans to diversify further into the medical device arena, such as advanced wound care, ostomy and continence care, drug delivery systems, and ocular.

James Cook, PCE Automation’s CEO said: “The acquisition of Olmec is a key milestone in delivering on our strategic business vision and goal of being a one-stop shop for medical clients.
“It will allow us to offer a full turnkey solution for our customers, helping to reduce complexity, time to market, friction costs, capital expenditures (CapEx), and downtime throughout the full value chain.”
The acquisition was finalised earlier this month following an 18-month process.
It is set to bring a 25pc growth in sales orders, as well as providing PCE Automation with a sales hub in the north of the UK.
The north Lincolnshire location will be PCE Automation’s fourth site after existing sites in Beccles and Lutterworth, and its newly added Dublin site.
