The East of England javelin workshop, probably the biggest of its kind in the UK for several years, attracted 42 throwers to Bury St Edmunds.
Hosted by West Suffolk Athletics Club at the Bury St Edmunds Sports Centre, the event saw participants, ranging from under 13s to Masters 45 age groups, travel from across the region to the west Suffolk town on Saturday, November 9.
Attendees received coaching from a team of experts, led by Mike McNeill, who said: “I have always known that the East of England has produced many top international javelin throwers and whilst watching the competitions this past season I witnessed many talented young throwers that I thought would benefit from such a workshop."

The workshop included throwing drills, skills, and personalised advice for each participant, along with training ideas for athletes and their coaches.
There was positive feedback from attendees, with a parent from Essex saying: "It certainly gave him some technique points and a range of other thoughts to come back with and use in his own training.
"We are hoping there will be future sessions."
