A man who has had a "significant impact" on a west Suffolk town has been jailed for breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Darren Hodgeson, 56, of no fixed abode, but is from the Bury St Edmunds area, was arrested on September 9.

He was subsequently charged with two counts of breaching an existing criminal behaviour order.

A criminal behaviour order prohibits offenders of crimes from doing activities listed in the order, which may include acts which cause harassment, alarm or distress to the public.

Hodgeson pleaded guilty to the charges and appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on November 12 where he was sentenced to 18 weeks’ imprisonment.

PC Joe Nettleton said: “This investigation, arrest and subsequent conviction is part of local policing priority to tackle anti-social behaviour in Bury St Edmunds.

"Hodgson’s and others' behaviour has a significant impact on the community, businesses and tourism. I am really pleased with this result which demonstrates our commitment to tackle these problems robustly.”
