An historic Suffolk hotel that dates back to Tudor times is set for a multimillion pound enhancement and expansion that will provide new rooms and woodland lodges.

Seckford Hall near Woodbridge is set to get 35 new bedrooms, seven woodland lodges and 28 bedrooms in a new lakeside block.

The plans also include an event space to replace the hotel's existing marquee, which will provide for weddings, conferences and events.

The aim of these developments is to enable the hall to hold events all year round, with enhanced views of the surrounding landscapes and historic architecture.

The manor house was built in the 1530s to the south west of Woodbridge as the family home of Thomas Seckford, an official at the court of Queen Elizabeth I and MP.
