Pub goers may not be able to get their usual Sunday roast around town next week for one very particular reason.
Dan Lightfoot, landlord of The Greyhound in Henley Road, shared the pub would not be offering their usual Sunday lunch fare for one week as a result of Ipswich Town's clash with Manchester United.
The publican replied to a a query on X if there would be "any chance of roast dinners" before the late afternoon kick off on Sunday, November 24.
Mr Lightfoot who trained as a chef at Suffolk College gave a lighthearted response.
He said: "I’m guessing by this question you’ve never worked in a kitchen feeding 250 people in 2 hours, it’ll just be the footy menu with a hint of roast dinner baguettes."
Joining the exchange, The Bull pub in nearby Brantham said they were serving roast dinners until 3pm before decamping to Portman Road for the premier league clash which kicks off at 4.30pm.
Mr Lightfoot, who is a season ticket holder at Ipswich Town and whose pub sponsors the club's academy said that he might join them.
Issacs in Wherry Quay said that on "very busy" days including Ipswich home matches they tend to serve a reduced breakfast menu, and a Bar Snacks menu instead of their main menu.
However, The Plough in Dogs Head Street which is also showing the match confirmed that they would be serving their usual menu.
This will include roast dinners including hand-carved turkey, beef and hand carved loin of Beef along with the option of a triple roast.
Event organiser Cathy Frost said: "We have a couple of pubs who take part and they said they'd struggle to cope because it has a 4.30 kick-off - and it will affect the number of people in the town centre."
