Post Office branches in Suffolk appear set to escape the axe after the company announced plans to cut 100 crown branches as part of transformation plans.

Hundreds of jobs are set to be lost after the Post Office signalled its intention to close branches that were said to be significantly loss making.

A Post Office spokesperson said the closures would affect Directly Managed Branches (DMB), but there were none within the "IP postcode area."

She said: “We are considering a range of options to reduce our central costs.

"This includes considering the future of our remaining DMBs, which are loss-making.

"We have long held a publicly-stated ambition to move to a fully franchised network and we are in dialogue with the unions about future options for the DMBs.”
