A six-year-old is celebrating after winning trophies in the home of dancing.

Phoebe Woods from Capel St Mary started dancing just less than two years ago at Feathersteps under the tuition of Crystal Main and Michelle Postlethwaite in December 2022.

She was inspired by the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, falling in love with both Ballroom & Latin dancing and continued to work hard and practice to improve her technique.

The BBC Show is heading to Blackpool this weekend with remaining contestants Chris McCausland, Wynne Evans, Pete Wicks, Tasha Ghouri, Jamie Borthwick, Montelle Douglas, Sarah Hadland and JB Gills fighting it out for the glitterball trophy.

Earlier in the year, in February, Phoebe wanted to take part in her first dance competition at the Royal Hospital School in Ipswich where she managed to qualify for Blackpool in Latin dancing.

She continued to compete and impress, gaining podium finishes at every competition she has competed in, also achieving Honours in her dance test with a result of 99 marks out of 100.

She also finished first place in Ballroom dancing the Waltz at a Blackpool qualifier in Canvey Island.

On November 2, she competed at the grand finals in what is widely regarded as the home of British dancing.

Competing over three rounds at the Winter Gardens Ballroom, she was able to get to the final in the Waltz and the Cha Cha.

She was awarded third in the Waltz and fourth in the Cha Cha.

Phoebe said: "I felt so happy and amazed.

"I got to show my trophies at school in assembly last week.

"I love dancing and I am already learning new dance routines to qualify for Blackpool next year.

"I want to be a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing when I am older."

Phoebe will next compete at December 1 in Gillingham where she will attempt to qualify once again for Blackpool next year.
