An investigation has been launched after a barn fire started at a farm in east Suffolk. 

Emergency services were called to Wood Farm in Saxmundham at 1.34pm on Friday following reports of a barn on fire at the farm.

Two Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service crews reached the site within 12 minutes of the call and immediately began tackling the blaze.

When they arrived they found that the 18m long and 15m wide barn was completely ablaze and therefore requested support.

After just under an hour at the scene the fire was put out at about 2.23pm, a fire service spokesman confirmed.

A small group of crew members were then left to dampen the area and make the site safe.

A spokesman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is currently unknown and the fire is now being investigated.
