A radio show that is considered "a vital platform" for emerging Suffolk musicians has celebrated its first anniversary.
The Unsigned Show, hosted by Paul Miles on Suffolk Sound, began on November 11 2023 with a pledge to showcase untapped talent and upcoming artists who are not signed to a record label.
The show's host, Paul Miles, is a seasoned radio host who started his career in the early 1990s.
He said: “I love untapped talent.
“Music is my life, and I’m always listening to new artists. So much hard work goes into their craft, and it’s a shame not to give it a platform.”
For local artists like Browno, the show has put the spotlight on his work.
The performer said: “Suffolk Sound has been a part of my journey as an artist from the very start.
"Paul and the team have given me so many opportunities along the way. I genuinely can’t thank them enough. For me, not only have I found a great platform, but I’ve also made friends for life.
"Great people! Big hearts! Outstanding commitment.”
Sam Penman, from the music project Retro Firefly, said: “The Unsigned Show is absolutely brilliant for unsigned musicians. Since sending Paul my music, he’s played my songs on his show many times, and I’ve even done a live session.
"Showcasing my music has connected me with fans and the vibrant music scene in Suffolk and beyond.”
The show takes place Monday from 6pm to 8pm.
Suffolk Sounds was started in July 2023 by Rob Dunger and Richie Ross with a mission to broadcast some of the biggest radio hits from the 1970s up until the early 2000s.
The radio show broadcasts to an average of 20,000 listeners a month and takes all profits and returns them into the community as well as reinvest into the radio station.
