A fresh bid has been made to relocate a hair salon in a Suffolk town as part of a plan to downsize the business.
Ryan Kerslake has applied to East Suffolk Council to change the use “from an annexe to a small hair salon” at a property in Harrisons Lane, Halesworth.
In the planning statement, it says the proposed hairdressing salon would be used by Natasha Kerslake, who is the owner of an existing hair salon in Halesworth town centre.
It adds: “With rising bills, high rent and the stress of running a large salon we would like to downsize the business and move it to The Annexe and make use of the building in this way.”

The plans propose the salon would have up to six clients per day and the opening hours would be between 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
The statement argues the people occupying the development of 190 new homes which is under way in Harrison’s Lane could potentially use the salon.
This is the second time an application has been made for a hair salon at the same site, as the first application was refused permission in August.
The first bid proposed to have a maximum of 12 customers per day.

It was objected to over concerns of an “increase of traffic, noise and activity” within a predominately residential area, and that such retail services “should be located within the town centre or a local district shopping centre”.
In the new application, the applicant recognises the policy that businesses should operate within the town centre and therefore has “given thought to other premises and looked at what is available in the town”.
However the statement adds: “There is nothing suitable for a viable business of this type at the scale we are looking to be working at”.
