A drug delivery driver who was stopped by police in west Suffolk with 14 wraps of cocaine hidden in his underwear had been jailed for 24 months.
Thirty-year-old Ionut Vasile was driving along Bury Road, Newmarket, on August 20 when he was detained by officers and taken to Newmarket police station for a strip-search, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Vasile had admitted he had drugs in his underwear which he claimed were for his personal use, said Godfried Duah, prosecuting.
The 14 wraps of cocaine were in small, sealed bags and Vasile also had £250 cash and a mobile phone which contained messages giving details of the postcodes he had delivered drugs to over a three-week period.
Vasile, of Khartoum Road, Ilford, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine between August 2 and August 20 and possessing cocaine with intent to supply on August 20.
Steven Dyble, for Vasile, who has no previous convictions, said his client had entered the UK legally and had become involved in delivering drugs because after finding himself with no money.
"He was viewed as easy prey and was exploited," said Mr Dyble.
He said that Vasile, who has two young children in Romania, had not been paid for the drug deliveries he had made by the time he was arrested.
