An east Suffolk town has been named among one of the top ten happiest places to live in the UK in 2024.

A poll that was conducted by Furniturebox, which surveyed 5,000 people by setting up panels across the UK, found Woodbridge to be the ninth happiest place to live in the country.

The results were ranked according to the beauty of the surroundings and green spaces because access to nature and pleasing aesthetics is seen to be a key part of happiness and well being and provision of good state schools as having good education is seen as another key element of wellbeing.

Also the criteria looked into the provision of affordable housing and access to quality pubs, restaurants, independent shops, and cultural attractions.

Woodbridge is no stranger to national recognition as it has been named one of the best places to live in the UK by the expert property finders at Garrington and a The Woodyard pizzeria, has been named one of the best in the UK as it was a finalist for this year's National Pizza Awards.

The town was the only place in East Anglia that made the top 20, with Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire ranked number one.
